SimWorks LED RPM Strip: SimHub Setup Guide
Share
Like every SimWorks product, the LED RPM Strip arrives pre-configured and ready to use. Plug it in, open SimHub, and it works. Nothing below is required to get going.
What follows is for anyone who wants to go further: adding a redline warning, running the strip through the free SimWorks Plugin, and grabbing ready made profiles.
Control it all from one place
Every SimWorks display, the RPM Strip included, can be controlled from the free SimWorks Plugin for SimHub. It installs itself and costs nothing.

What you need
- A SimWorks LED RPM Strip, which comes with its USB-C cable
- A Windows PC running SimHub
- A sim that SimHub supports, such as iRacing, Assetto Corsa Competizione or Le Mans Ultimate
If you ever swap the cable, make sure the replacement carries data. Charge only USB-C cables will power the strip without ever passing telemetry to it, which looks exactly like a fault. The SimWorks USB-C data cable is the right type if you need a spare.
How do I add a redline warning to my RPM LEDs?
SimHub has a built in effect that reacts when you hit the redline. Here is how to add it to your strip.
Create a new profile
In SimHub, open the RGB LEDs page and click New Profile.
Add the effect
On the right hand side, click + Add Effect. Under LED Status, choose Redline Reach.
Assign the LEDs
Open the My Hardware page to see which LEDs belong to your RPM strip. It shows two numbers, the first LED and the last. Use the first as the Start Position, then set the LED Count to however many you want the effect to use.
Where do I find ready made profiles?
If you would rather not build a profile from scratch, there is a growing library of them in the download section of the SimWorks Discord. Grab one, import it into SimHub, and you are away. Profiles can be swapped at any time, so it is worth trying a few to find the one that suits how you race.
What does the SimWorks Plugin add?
Every SimWorks display can be driven from the SimWorks Plugin, which saves hopping between SimHub pages for each device. The installer finds your SimHub folder, closes SimHub if it is open, and puts everything in place on its own.
- Rev limiter flash and spotter alerts
- All 14 race flags, each one switched on or off individually
- Gear display with a choice of fonts and colour themes
- Brightness control
- Automatic updates, checked each time SimHub starts
Changes apply straight away, with no SimHub restart.

RPM LEDs not working? Common fixes
Why is my RPM strip not lighting up?
Use the cable the strip came with. If you have swapped it, the replacement may be charge only rather than a data cable. After that, check it is in a PC port or a powered hub rather than an unpowered one.
Why do the LEDs never react on track?
That points at telemetry rather than hardware. Confirm the right game is selected in SimHub and that you are in a live session rather than a menu or a replay.
Something else entirely?
Ask on the SimWorks Discord. Anything beyond the basics is quicker to sort with a couple of questions than by working through it alone, and support is there to help.
Still stuck?
The SimWorks Discord is the fastest place to get an answer. Profiles live in the download section, the written tutorials sit in tutorials and guides, and other racers running the same setup are usually around too.
